In this online christian iconography course, learn how to analyze and interpret iconographic symbols and representations of Jesus and Mary in works of art.

Course 2 – Iconography of Saints

In this online iconography course, learn how to analyze works of art iconographically and identify the iconography of saints, as well as their attributes and representations.

 

At the end of this course package on Christian iconography participants will be able to:

Recognize and distinguish between the concepts of iconography and iconology.

Identify and recognize characters and settings using iconographic analysis.

Identify important literary and graphic sources for iconographic interpretation.

When faced with a practical case, apply the iconographic method at all levels of analysis, recognizing and contextualizing characters and episodes from Christian iconography and the iconography of the saints.

Identify and recognize symbols and representations of episodes from the lives of Jesus and Mary.
